TOP 17 BUSINESS IDEAS YOU CAN START IN NAIROBI WITH LOW CAPITAL (1,000+))

This are the top 17 business you can start in Nairobi city with the little amount you have as low as 1,000 shillings

1.Food Truck or Food Cart

If you haven’t noticed, food trucks and food carts are more than just hot dog and burger stands now. Many are on the cutting edge of excellent cuisine in the cities in which they operate. If you can cook and drive and you don’t mind putting in some long hours, you can have a successful business in the portable-restaurant space.

If you can afford it, go for running a food truck. Be aware, though, that a truck that can accommodate a mobile restaurant could put a serious dent into your budget. But you can consider buying a used one or financing or leasing a new one. You’ll also need local licenses for food service as well as money for fuel and advertising, so tread carefully.

2. Salon

Assuming you are not going for a high-end executive salon in Nairobi CBD, which might even cost you Sh1,000,000, opening a simple salon at your neighboring might be a good start. All you need are blow dry equipment and hair products that will cost you less than Sh50,000. However, it will be great if you can get some tips from those who are already in the business

3. Selling smokies and eggs

Smokies and eggs filled with Kachumbari have become the most popular snacks in Kenya. Starting this business does not require a lot of capital. With as little as Sh10,000, you are good to go. You can make a profit of about Sh8-10 depending on where you buy your eggs and about 7 bob on a single smokie.

4. Selling Baby Diapers

Unlike the past, diapers have become a norm in every household with a baby. You can take advantage of this new market by selling diapers.

All you have to do is get a supplier who can sell them to you at a discount and then your work will be to distribute. You can start with where you live by targeting homes with babies, doing door to door deliveries.
The good news is that you can also start this business with as low as 5K

5.Car wash business

This is one of the most booming businesses in Kenya right now. You don’t require much to start a cash wash, just an area with water supply.

People would rather pay someone to wash their cars than do it themselves. If you charge 200 shillings per car, you can manage to clean 100 cars per day again depending on where you are located. That is 20K per day.

Get a dedicated staff and you could be making around 400K in a month.

6. Movie shop

This is one of the top businesses you can start with 20K in Kenya. It is also one of the easiest and the returns are really good.

If you have a computer or a laptop already, you can just rent out a room and start selling your movies. Most movie shops make a profit of about 4K per day; make that 120K per month. Before long you will be having your own chain of movie shops in various major towns.

7.Selling women handbags

Women love fashion and looking good. You can start selling handbags which fetches a very good profit.

People who are in this business get their supplies from places like Eastleigh, Toi or Gikomba.

If you are an active social media user, you can use your Facebook page and Instagram account to market your products.

In Conclusion, it does not matter how much you use to start a business, a successful business requires dedication, determination and hard work.

This is one of the most profitable top businesses you can start with 20K in Kenya. The mitumba business is not dying anytime soon.

I have a friend who has a stall at Donholm for mitumba dresses and makes a profit of 4K on a bad day. During the holidays she can make as much as 20K in profit.

You can even boost your earnings by cooking meat dishes for the customers, or opening a nyama choma joint to run along your butchery business.

Most people would assume that a hardware store would require a lot of capital but that is not the case. The only expenses required for setting up the business is rent for your business space, business license, and some little bit of furnishing (shelves and counter for goods display).

As for the stock, with a registered business, you can easily get it from suppliers in consignment deals. Therefore, about Ksh 20,000 – 50,000 is enough to set up a very profitable hardware store. Milk is another commodity that is in high demand in Kenya, but with very few people to meet that demand especially in urban areas. An entrepreneur who ca can meet the demand with a fresh and high-quality supply of milk is thus guaranteed of a very successful business venture.

Starting a milk bar does not require much, just a good location, and a business and milk vending licenses. A good and reliable source of milk is also needed to ensure that your customers are satisfied. For this reason, it is a better idea to buy directly from the farmers; you will get fresh milk at a more affordable price.

Professional cleaning is another business idea that is becoming increasingly popular in Kenya. There is a good demand for professional cleaning services, both in residential homes as well as commercial premises.

To set up a good cleaning business, you just need to register a company name, hire a few good employees, and then purchase the required cleaning supplies and products. From there, all you need to do is advertise your business services, which you can do on various online platforms, or even go “door to door” looking for customers who require your services.

Boda Boda is another one of the best business you can start with Ksh 50,000. It does not require much other than a motorcycle, which can go from about Ksh 30,000 to 50,000 (used). After that, you only need to have a motorcycle license and then select a busy area.

Some of the top places where you can earn handsomely with a Boda Boda business include in town areas, or residential neighbourhoods where PSV vehicles don’t serve.

17.Food joint
If you do not have the budget for the high capital required to start a restaurant, a food joint is the next big thing. The only thing you need to start one is good food. And to avoid any problems with the law, you should also secure a business and health license.

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will take place next year between February and March. Education CS George Magoha, on Thursday, however, said that the months are subject to change depending on how the Covid-19 pandemic progresses in the country. The government is preparing for the gradual reopening of schools from September. But Prof Magoha says that they have to be cautious so as not to cause a major dilemma in the future. “Officials from our ministry have already started going into the field to physically assess and what we are avoiding is people giving us shopping lists which is the usual thing,” he added. The ministry, he says, is involving other stakeholders to ensure that when children go back to school, then they will be able to do it in a safe manner. “We want to go and check at what is precisely necessary so that we can open our schools and ensure that our children are safe. And in that regard, we have starte...
